Written by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, based on the book by Ilene Beckerman, Love, Loss and What I Wore explores how deeply affecting an item of clothing can be.
Our production is directed by Dianne Dreyer who joins OTTG having recently retired from a 40 year career in motion pictures and television where she worked as a producer, a performer, technician and director. Memorable credits include such films as: The English Patient, Cold Mountain, The Talented Mr. Ripley, You’ve Got Mail, Julie and Julia, Signs, Unbreakable, The Perfect Storm, Air Force One, and A Man Called Otto.
The central storyteller, Gingy, shares her experiences from childhood through adulthood connecting the threads through memories of the clothes she wore. The ensemble brings to life the siblings, daughters, friends, and aunts forming a clothesline of wonderful stories- whimsical to harrowing- on subjects that include marriage, divorce, motherhood, rape, abandonment and body image. In spite of the weighty subjects, the stories are moving, relatable and often funny.
