Louise Belensz

Board of Trustee, Secretary, Gallery Committee

Length of Service: new, Term Expiration: 12/31/28

Louise is a lifelong volunteer with a genuine commitment to serving her community.

Louise retired from a career as a scientist in 2019 from the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. Through a variety of job assignments she had a role in the protection of the environment and worker health and safety.

Her passion for community service began at a young age and progressed through the years with roles in public school, church and settings when her children were young. Through her employment, she developed strong organizational skills which she used as a board member of the Network of Volunteer Associates, an internal organization connecting people to various non-profit organizations in the local Schenectady and southern Saratoga County community.

Louise believes in the role of non-profits to build community and strengthen families.  This belief has fueled her enthusiastic involvement with the Double H Ranch in Lake Luzerne since 2013; as a ski instructor and year-round volunteer, serving children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Since moving full-time to the Johnsburg area in 2019, Louise has become involved in the community and developed an interest in the arts.  She has worked to connect healthy food to the community by helping out with the Food Pantry at the Adirondack Community Outreach Center and the North Creek Farmers’ Market.  She has awakened her creative side through classes with local artists and volunteering on the Tannery Pond Center Gallery Committee.

As a Trustee on the Tannery Pond Board, Louise will use her strong organizational skills to enhance the mission of TPC in bringing the arts to the community.

Louise lives in North River with her husband, Alan, and dog, Annie Bean.  She and Alan have two grown children who live in Vermont with their spouses and dogs.  She enjoys family time, cooking, being outdoors, hiking, cross-country skiing, gardening, reading, and crocheting.
